Ball Python Care Guide

What can be said about a ball python (P.regius)? Plenty it tuns out! A hugely popular animal for a companion pet and one that has so many positives it’s not hard to see why. I have been keeping ball pythons for decades and enjoy the amazing variety of keepers who work with them today. The reptile community is a diverse one and has grown by leaps and bounds in no small part due to great keeper species like the ball python attracting new owners all the time. Typical set ups for hatchlings are 2x2 enclosures with cypress mulch for bedding, a hide and water bowl. A warm end of 88f and the cool side in the 70s with nighttime temperatures in the 70s. Weekly fed, they grow into adults in about 4 years. Adult enclosures are 4x2 in size and have the same furniture and temperatures as listed above for the hatchlings. Typically an easy going species and one reluctant to bite makes captive care a breeze. I hope to have some nice examples this season and for many more to come.
